Anyways. . . onto the best and most amazing meal of the day – BREAKFAST!
I feel I have over-shared on my love for breakfast, so I will spare you on my excessive description on the most amazing meal of the day and just show you an example for another great breakfast dish that I could eat all day long!
Baked French Toast Casserole

Ingredients
- 1 loaf of french bread
- 8 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- zest of an orange
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- pinch of salt
- TOPPING:
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick butter, cold
- maple syrup & powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- Butter a casserole dish and rip or cut pieces from french bread into dish
- In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, cream, and orange zest until combined
- Add sugars, cinnamon and salt and beat until sugars have dissolved
- Pour mixture over bread, tightly cover and put in refrigerator for at least 6 hours or overnight
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt for the topping and then cut in cold butter (use a pastry cutter or electric mixer) until well incorporated
- Take casserole dish out of the fridge and uncover. Top with butter mixture and bake for 1 hour.
- Let cool for 10-15 minutes and then top with powdered sugar and maple syrup
